Tewkesbury

Sitting at the confluence of the River Avon and the River Seven, Tewkesbury has long been an important trading point. The town grew following the construction of its impressive Abbey in the twelfth century and played a significant role in the Wars of the Roses. The Battle of Tewkesbury is marked annually by a medieval festival in the town.

Tewkesbury’s close ties to water were significant in the commercial development of the town with Healings Mill, an industrial flour mill built in 1865, at the centre of this. Now derelict, the Mill remains an imposing structure on the town’s river front.
